About Global Health ATL

 

Global Health ATL was formed to grow metro Atlanta’s global health talent pool, foster health innovation, increase funding for global health programs and expand the city’s already remarkable reach worldwide. We are the only initiative of its kind to have the unified support of the world’s top corporate brands, health organizations and higher education institutions backing our efforts.

 

Our goal at Global Health ATL is to harness Atlanta’s assets as a center for global health in order to raise the standard of care internationally.

 

Global Health ATL is driving the creation of a first-of-its-kind global health innovation district in Atlanta, which will create an epicenter for not only global health initiatives, but also for health information technology, life sciences, disaster response and disease eradication. This innovation district will also work to fuel sustainable economic growth and inclusive economic development to benefit the entire region and beyond.

 

Working against the backdrop of metro Atlanta’s diverse, complex ecosystem, Global Health ATL is positioned to address global health issues from a culturally inclusive and socially relevant perspective that could only happen here.

 

Our Initiatives

A March 2018 visioning session kicked off the effort, followed by the formation of three Tiger Teams centered on:

• The creation of a physical Global Health District

• Initiatives to support disease eradication as well as economic development; poverty is closely tied to poor health

• A focus on disaster response that leverages Atlanta’s transportation and logistics assets, as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
