Delta celebrates Men’s Health Month with one big Bash and two big donations

December 1, 2016

Delta Air Lines kicked off the company’s month-long campaign for Men's Health Awareness Nov. 3 with its Stache Bash event. More than 350 employees dined and engaged in discussion about the most important issues in men’s health.

The surprise of the evening came when Delta presented the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association with $10,000 each for men's health research. The two organizations are long-time Delta partners.

The night began with the Mustache reception, where guests interacted with presenting sponsors UnitedHealthcare and Optum. Other sponsors, like RALLY, Corporate Sports, Health Enhancements and PRM Consulting, provided information while engaging people with fun experiences such as CycleNation bike rides, the football sports experience, Optum's photo pledge to better health and RALLY's Be Thankful Wall. All this activity led to a huge turnout for the Stache Bash.

After the reception and dinner, attendees heard from a panel with physicians specializing in men’s health. They also viewed a video presentation from Delta employees who discussed their own experiences battling men's health issues.

"I'm excited to look out and see we have three times the people we had last year," Don Mitacek, Senior Vice President – TechOps and executive sponsor for the Men's Health campaign, told the crowd. "I look forward to the day when the campaign has grown so large we talk about putting a mustache on a plane."

The airline has a full calendar of Men’s Health Events planned throughout the rest of the month, including Q-and-A sessions and seminars with doctors.

Delta's Wellness program provides holistic health resources to address physical, emotional and financial wellbeing. The program is supported by the Delta Wellness Network, a team of Delta employees at the executive, management and frontline levels who are committed to making Delta a healthy place to thrive and succeed.
